Time to Party? Here's Some Simple Advice to Help Keep Your Skin Healthy

Time to Party? Here's Some Simple Advice to Help Keep Your Skin Healthy

Winter is here, which means Christmas is now around the corner and for most, the Christmas parties and get-togethers are already underway.

Unfortunately, some find that the cold weather, bitter winds, high carbohydrate diets, increased alcohol consumption and the temptation to reach for the central heating thermostat can mean acne returns with a vengeance, and the last thing you want when you’re around your loved ones on Christmas Day is a spotty face…

Here's What Most Don't Know

During the summer, we spend more time outdoors. Whether that’s going for walks, exercising or just simply soaking up the sun. Our skin is healthier as bacteria doesn’t breed as easily, this is because ‘the great outdoors’ is also known as an ‘aerobic environment’, aka oxygen-rich. So when you have healthy skin in the summer it’s not actually all about vitamin D which others may lead you to believe.

However, during the winter we spend the majority of our time indoors. The problem with this is most houses are sealed around the windows and doors to let minimum amounts of hot air out and minimum amounts of cold air in. Such houses are described as ‘hermetically sealed’.

As great as this may be for our energy bills, it also means our homes are now lacking in oxygen, and so they are known as more of an ‘anaerobic environment’. Unless you’ve left the heating on too long, you’re not going to want to open a window, so there’s not an awful lot you can do about it either.

What Has Oxygen Levels Got to Do with Our Skin?

Acne bacteria typically breeds more in low-oxygen environments, the best example of this is when you wash a bottle or a container and put it away with the lid on, if you leave it for long enough, it begins to smell and goes mouldy, sound familiar?

This explains one reason why staying indoors can lead to increased frequency and severity of acne breakouts during the colder seasons – bacteria breeds easier with less oxygen. It also doesn’t help that most of us reach for the central heating as this can lead to an increase in sebaceous activity (increased oil production). More oil is more food for the bacteria.

What Can You Do to Protect Your Skin?

Even though it can be really cold outside (at least by our standards), make sure you get your daily dose of oxygen by getting some fresh air, that could be walking the dog or going for a run. This is not just for the benefit of your health (and not to mention your dog's health), but also for the benefit of your skin. Just make sure you wrap up warm.

While this is a great tip, it does not solve the problem. Peter Roberts, Head Trainer at SkinMed says "Acne sufferers are still susceptible to, ‘life stresses’ and also diets. Not to mention the ‘festive diet’, which consist of high carbohydrates, high sugar, high animal fats and milk products. These can all exacerbate acne. Some can even make your skin more susceptible to hormones and can further exacerbate acne problems.” So perhaps we should be eating fewer mince pies if we’re wanting clear skin… or should we?

It's Not All Doom and Gloom

Let’s face it, there’s enough stress that comes with buying Christmas presents, ordering your turkey and having relatives around without having to worry about an outbreak of spots. To give yourself the best chance of getting rid of your acne, you’re going to need to target the cause and the symptoms. Aknicare changes the conditions in the skin so that your skin becomes less sensitive to the hormonal trigger which leads to acne development. However, Aknicare doesn’t upset the hormonal balance around the rest of your body.

Aknicare is a medically licenced product and contains patented ingredients that eradicate more than 96% of the bacteria living under the blocked ‘pores’ and causing spots, including those resistant to antibiotics, all this happens much faster than antibiotics or antibiotics combined with benzoyl peroxide. Aknicare also rapidly reduces inflammation so existing spots will significantly reduce in severity and heal up, while new spot production becomes less and less until you have a clear, spot free and non-oily skin.

To summarise, acne breakouts will reduce in frequency and severity until they stop appearing altogether, with none of the side effects that are associated with oral treatments.

Aknicare is found to have worked in over 88% of users, this means we can guarantee the results. So, if after finishing the products (around 8-10 weeks) you’ve found that you’ve had no luck, we will be happy to provide you with a full refund. This is completely hassle free, all that we ask is that you send what's left of your products back to us with a letter and the money will be back with you shortly after.
